Add the airport train cost before deciding
The AREX all-stop train accepts T-Money, unlike the reserved AREX Express Train. The adult fare from Incheon Airport Terminal 1 to Seoul Station (서울역) is ₩4,750, while Terminal 2 to Seoul Station is ₩5,350. A visitor arriving at Terminal 2 and making four city rides can use most of a ₩15,000 load quickly. - Loading too much near departure. The physical card purchase price is not refundable, and refund procedures can involve limits or service fees. Reduce your balance gradually instead.

Start with ₩20,000, check the reader display after each ride, and reload once the remaining T-Money card balance falls below ₩5,000. Before an airport or suburban trip, reload at ₩10,000 or more so a delayed train, extra transfer, or taxi does not create a problem. Station vending machines are usually the fastest option; convenience-store staff can help, but cash is the most dependable reload method.
On your last day, keep at least ₩6,000 if you plan to travel from central Seoul to Incheon Airport by the AREX all-stop train, plus enough for any local connection. For one final ride within central Seoul, a T-Money card balance of ₩3,000–₩5,000 is generally comfortable. This approach gives you easy transport throughout the trip without leaving a large amount trapped on the card.
