At a rounded planning rate, ₩100,000 is about US$70; use KRW for your actual plan because exchange rates change.

For seven nights in Seoul, plan roughly ₩630,000–₩1,120,000 per person before flights. Prices rise most noticeably for rooms during spring blossoms, autumn weekends, Christmas and New Year, and the Chuseok holiday period. Reserve refundable accommodation early if your dates fall near those periods.
The expenses that change your total most
Sleep near a subway station, but not necessarily in the center
Hostel beds commonly start around ₩30,000–₩55,000. A clean budget private room may cost ₩75,000–₩140,000, while midrange hotels in popular areas often begin around ₩160,000. Myeongdong (명동), Hongdae (홍대), and Gangnam (강남) are convenient, but a hotel one or two stops away can be substantially cheaper. Check the last train time and station exit before booking; a low nightly rate is less useful if every evening ends with a taxi.
Food is flexible, until drinks and barbecue enter the plan
Kimbap, noodles, or rice dishes often cost ₩6,000–₩12,000. A casual restaurant meal is commonly ₩10,000–₩18,000. Set aside ₩30,000–₩50,000 daily if you want a sit-down meal and coffee stops without closely tracking each purchase. Korean barbecue, seafood, cocktails, and specialty cafés increase that total quickly. Some barbecue restaurants require a minimum order for two people, so solo visitors should ask before being seated.
Public transit is affordable; airport and late-night trips are separate

Allow ₩5,000–₩10,000 for ordinary sightseeing-day transit. Airport rail or buses, KTX trains, and late taxis should be separate lines in your Korea trip budget. If you land late at Incheon International Airport (인천국제공항), compare the final airport train or bus with your accommodation’s check-in cutoff before selecting the least expensive option.
Attractions, payment, and reservations
Many excellent Seoul days are inexpensive: markets, parks, museum areas, riverside walks, and neighborhood wandering cost little or nothing. Royal palace entry is comparatively low-priced. Before visiting Gyeongbokgung Palace (경복궁), review the official admission fees, closures, and opening schedule; seasonal hours, last admission, and special programs vary. Timed tours and popular weekend experiences should be reserved in advance rather than treated as walk-ins.
Use a card with no foreign transaction fee for hotels, shops, and restaurants, but keep cash for smaller vendors and transit-card recharges. A physical transportation card remains useful. Build a buffer that prevents budget stress
- Add 10%–15% for eSIM data, luggage storage, laundry, drinks, snacks, and rain-day taxis.
- Book accommodation and intercity transport first; they are harder to replace cheaply.
- Choose one paid priority each day and pair it with free neighborhoods or parks.
- Keep enough unspent transit-card value for the ride to the airport.
The best Korea trip budget is not the absolute minimum. It is an amount that lets you change plans when weather, luggage, a missed train, or a worthwhile reservation makes the cheaper choice impractical.
